Treatments
- L-Dopa is a form of dopamine designed to help during stage IV. It would help with motor control to help them to move by themselves. Researchers later found out that it is very useless in the long run.
- Naltrexone is a form of an opiate, a highly addictive drug. This would help release endorphins in the brain which would help with their response to pain. The negative side affect are even slower development and loss of appetite.
- Bromocriptine, like L-Dopa, helps with function of dopamine. This helps improve communication skills, decreases agitation, and less hand movements. If this drug is stopped then restarted, the drug will have no affect.
- Tyrosine and Tryptophan, both are amino acids to help boost neurotransmitter levels. Sadly, with this drug, there is no difference in performance.
- L-Carnitine, this is a form of the amino acid called lysine. This causes subtle improvements like: increased alertness, mobility, energy, and less daytime sleeping.
